Susanne Elsen has long-term experiences in participative and transdisciplinary research and development, predominantly in fields of social innovation and eco-social development.
Her understanding of research is that of the scientists responsibility for the construction of settings for common learning and the co-production of knowledge for sustainable solutions.

and coordinated by the University of Verona, aiming to build up a prevention network against exploitation and illegal labor recruitment in the northern Italian provinces Trentino-Alto Adige, Lombardia and Veneto on a broad research base.
ASTRA (Applying Sustainability Transition Research in Social Work, tackling Major Societal Challenges of Social Inclusion), a European research- and training Network in the frame of Horizon 2020, aiming to qualify early stage researchers in a common PhD-program for research and development in this field.

European project with 10 partners in 5 countries to develop a research-based curriculum

WWWforEurope – Under the title of “Welfare, Wealth and Work for Europe” (www.foreurope.eu) a European research consortium was mandated by the European commission to lay the scientific foundations for this new strategy. The consortium brought together top researchers from 33 scientific institutions in 12 European countries and was coordinated by the WIFO, the Austrian Institute of Economic Research in Vienna.
